Why The Ship Has Stopped Recording Impact

Since it's been nearly a year, it truly makes sense to say, "Finally, The Ship has come back to blogger.com!"

What has brought The Ship back after such a long hiatus? Why, you can thank Dixie Carter and her "creative" team for ruining TNA so much! Go ahead, thank her by tweeting her @TNADixie!

So, as is obvious by the title of this entry, The Ship canceled his recording of IMPACT Wrestling last week. Last Saturday to be exact. The Ship is a busy man, working full-time as a youth minister, spending as much time as he can with the Mrs., playing with his dog and occasionally hanging out with the 405 Horsemen. He does a good job of keeping up with RAW and Smackdown, but he had three weeks of IMPACT still on the Hopper. So, he decided to start his Saturday by watching all three episodes on his bedroom TV.

The last episode was the one with AJ Styles and Magnus facing off for the "undisputed" TNA Championship. Let's back up for a minute, though. Now, we all know that TNA and WWE have both clearly stolen ideas from one another. When AJ Styles had his supposed affair with Claire Lynch, rumors circulated that Vince McMahon said, "We can do this." The angle with John Cena and the other AJ (the lovely and talented, AJ Lee) certainly rang a bell (although certainly most would agree they chose more attractive participants).

Well, TNA clearly stole from WWE when they had AJ win the TNA World Championship at Bound For Glory (their biggest pay-per-view every year) and "quit" and take the title with him. Of course, this is exactly what happened in July 2011 when CM Punk won the WWE Championship from John Cena at Money in the Bank and "quit," only to come back a few weeks later. Even many of the "smartest marks" thought Punk was sincere when he talked about defending the Championship in New Japan, ROH, etc.

TNA took it a step further by actually showing AJ defend the title at other promotions and carried it on longer than the WWE did. But, it was still a classic rob.

And when Punk "returned" to WWE, he and Cena had a clean unification match at Summerslam. Which means The Ship back around to the Styles/Magnus title match.

This match could have been great. Styles is arguably in the Top 5 in US when it comes to pure wrestling talent. He combines technical wrestling with high-flying, aerial attacks and many more styles in between. He is in the same class with Punk and Daniel Bryan. Magnus is a little more straight-forward, using his size to his advantage, but certainly more technical than say The Great Khali :)

So, this match had the potential to be one of the best matches TNA has had in quite some time. It had a lot on the line and therefore, The Ship hoped for a clean finish. You can have the greatest match going, but in this guy's opinion, if your finish is dirty (interference, cheating), the whole match is ruined. Well, what we had was similar to say the glory days of Monday Nitro where every title defense of "Hollywood" Hogan's ended with all of the NWO coming to his rescue. Dixie just about cleared out the locker room to give Magnus the win. All of the "Friends of AJ" had been injured or removed from the arena, so he had no one to come to his aid. It was simply pitiful.

Earl Hebner, the same man who had no qualms about screwing Bret, supposedly was too disgusted to take part in doing the count, so he left that to his son. #fatheroftheyear

And that's when The Ship decided to cancel the series recording of "IMPACT Wrestling" on his Hopper.

In case you're thinking, "Big deal. Did you just start watching it a year ago?" let The Ship clarify some things.

The Ship's love affair with TNA began in 2004. The maintenance guy at his Del City apartment was a big wrestling fan too. He dropped off some VHS tapes of TNA PPVs (for those young folks, VHS was the predecessor to DVD, so think two steps back from Bluray). The Ship watched a tag team cage match with American's Most Wanted vs. Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper. The wrestling was so good and the six-sided cage so revolutionary that it hooked The Ship in.

He started ordering PPVs himself. For a few years there, he'd order at least three TNA PPVs a year: Lockdown, Slammiversary and Bound For Glory. And when TNA got a contract with Fox Sports, The Ship was there. When RAW went back to USA and TNA ended up on Spike TV, The Ship jumped up and down with excitement and immediately set the series recording.

The Ship defended TNA to its haters. When WWE-only fans would say things like, "I don't like Jeff Jarrett," The Ship knew exactly what to say. He'd admit that yes, Jarrett shouldn't have been the world champion so much, but he'd counter by pointing out the real heart of TNA: the X-Division. Guys like AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Jay Lethal, Sharkboy, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Samoa Joe, you get the point... The X-Division was the best and the 6-sided ring was the perfect fit for these guys.

The Ship and his best friend, Dustin Jaggers, headed up to Wichita for a TNA house show in 2006. It was a great show, featuring an appearance by Christian, who had just come over from WWE. The Ship left the show with his only piece of TNA gear, a Samoa Joe adjustable hat.

When Sting came to TNA in 2005, The Ship was one excited 25-year-old. You gotta understand one thing about this blogger. He is a little Stinger for life. When Ship met Dustin in 1991, Dustin introduced Ship to pro wrestling. There were two options for favorite wrestlers. If you were a WWE (OK, WWF) fan, you were a Hulkamaniac (OK, there were maybe a few more options, but he was still THE guy). If you were a WCW fan, you were a little Stinger! The first time The Ship saw him in his spiked-up blond flat top and bright colors (the "Surfer Sting"), he was HOOKED! The Ship was a little Stinger first, the Jericholic would come later :)

TNA had a lot going for them, but it wasn't reflecting in the ratings. Dixie Carter was simply providing the finances and man, it should have stayed that way! But, she apparently decided it was time to take more of a hands-on approach and began appearing on TV. She hired Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan, who came in and made too many changes. Out went the 6-sided ring, Jay Lethal, the emphasis on the X-Division and Jeff Jarrett himself (who, of course, wasn't innocent. He made the decision to steal Kurt Angle's wife, but that's more of a "The Ship Preaches On" topic).

And now, even though Hogan and Bischoff are gone, we are still suffering from some of their changes and Dixie has seemingly driven out anyone with any creativity altogether. The day that Jeff Jarrett left the company should have been the day that we all understood there was no going back. The man who started the company has been removed from it. It's like Apple when they fired Steve Jobs. Maybe, just maybe, TNA will pull an Apple and re-hire Jarrett and put him back at the top, but that's very very doubtful.

What's much more likely is that by the end of 2014, the WWE Network will feature all of TNA's PPVs and WWE will release a "Rise and Fall of TNA" DVD/Blu-ray.

Regardless of whether or not that happens, The Ship is done recording IMPACT. Why's that? Sadly, it reminds this guy of another company that Vince bought out in 2001. Ship is 33, so to put this is context, he was in high school during the Monday Night War. As he mentioned previously, he was a WCW guy. He preferred Nitro over RAW. That is, until WrestleMania 14 when "Stone Cold" won the WWE Championship and the Attitude Era started picking up steam. He would switch back and forth, but eventually RAW won the ratings and the attention of our "wrestling gang."

WCW was still watchable though, until January 31, 2000. See, in August 1999, Chris Jericho came over to WWE, which pretty much was the end of the War for this guy. However, there were still some guys left in WCW that made it worth keeping an eye on. Then on January 31, 2000, the Radicalz (Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn) showed up on RAW and we knew, WCW was history.

They tried for another year, but with those guys in "New York," they lost their heart. They lost the workhorses of the company. And they still had Vince Russo and his awful ideas...

Well, that's how TNA feels right now. They still have some of the workhorses left, guys like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels (Ship's fav from the get-go), Abyss (sort of), Storm and Roode, but it doesn't feel like TNA anymore. Joe and Daniels haven't been used right in years. It appears that Beer Money might be reunited, which sounds like an awful idea. It's just this sad feeling that we'll never get TNA back.

And so, The Ship has made the decision to stop recording IMPACT. Will he maybe occasionally take a peek on a Thursday night? Sure. Will he read a spoiler or two to see if anything good is happening? Yeah. But is it worth his time to sit back and watch a full two hours, hoping for one good match? No. TNA used to be the company that had bad storylines, but great wrestling (while WWE had good storylines and bad wrestling), but now they don't even have great wrestling.

And with the coming of WWE Network, there's just not enough time left for TNA. So, The Ship bids thee farewell! :(

Until next time, keep sailing on...

Royal Rumble live blog

Finally, The Ship has come back to blogger.com!

It's time for another live blog! The Ship is here in his living room with some of the 405 Horsemen and some of the ol' wrestling gang from Tulsa, including Chris Vincent, who was the genius behind the WrestleMania 28 live blog.

Currently, we are waiting for The Princess to come back with the pizza and for the pre-show to start!

The pre-show is starting and we are discussing who is rumored to be here... Chris Masters, Hurricane, Carlito, Shelton Benjamin, now Tad says John Morrison and then says, "They could always bring back Honky (Tonk Man)." Dustin says Rikishi wasn't able to make it.

And now Kinzer (Jake Keel) has arrived!

And now, Corey is here!

At this point in the show, Ship's crappy computer shut off on its own and he had to write the rest on REAL paper with REAL pen! So, that's why this blog didn't post IMMEDIATELY after Royal Rumble went off the air.

Ship was trying to watch the Cesaro-Miz match when his computer went off, so we don't know at this point who is the US Champ (we would find out later that Cesaro retained).

The World Title match is first???

Bret Hart REALLY needs to dye his hair again. He looks so old with all those gray hairs.

He just told Alberto Del Rio that he reminds him of a Mexican Bret Hart (and ADR referred to him as a Canadian ADR?!?). Weird, 'cuz Ship definitely doesn't see the similarity.

Jake told us to look up ADR's MMA fights on YouTube (great, another thing to look up on YouTube lol).

Sweet! The Spanish Table is back! We are now waiting for it to break! (Ship predicts it will be saved for the Punk-Rock match)

Ricardo Rodriguez looks sweet in Hart's shades!

During the World Title match, the crowd is chanting loudly, "Big Show sucks!" For once, the WWE Universe knows what they're talking about.

What happened to the sign? Big Show kicks the already messed-up sign. Tad says, "Sweet Chin Music by Big Show."

Wow, they're having to censor to keep it TV-PG. What was that Big Show? When ADR hit him with the steel steps, they bleeped him out!

It was a really bad finish to the match. RR tapes Show to ropes, so he can't get up to the count of 10. ADR retains... this would normally be booed by the Universe, but of course ADR is the new flavor of the month..

Jake said Sin Cara claims he failed the drug test because he drank too much Coca-Cola. Vinnie and Ship say at the same time, "Maybe the old Coke!"

Then Jake says, "Did you know Dolph Ziggler could sell ice to Eskimos?" Good one, Kinzer!

Now, it's time for the tag title match.

Jake predicts Team Hell No will win the match, but that the seeds will be planted for a split during the Royal Rumble match.

Quote of the night: Cole says, "Goats do fly!" after Daniel Bryan flies over the top rope (it was hard to hear anything the announcers said in this room!).

During the tag title match (Hell No vs. Team Rhode Scholars), the group debated the current TNA storylines. Corey defended TNA and asked Chris, "Have you watched it in the past year?" Ship says it's pretty hard to defend it when they have Bully Ray marry Brooke Hogan...

Wow, surprised to see Damien tapped out to Daniel Bryan. Really thought they were pushing for Rhode Scholars to win tag titles.

What?? It's time for the Royal Rumble already? What happened to saving it for last, or at least having the Divas title match? This makes us think that Ziggler will cash in the MITB on the winner of The Rock vs. Punk. Perhaps he wins the Royal Rumble match and, with that, becomes Unified Champion.

Speaking of Ziggler, here he comes first and he and AJ make out like it's a Skinamax movie. Cole makes a great point when he states that the last time she kissed a guy before a match, it was Bryan at WM 28 (and remember how he lost the title to Sheamus in 18 seconds after that?)

BTW, Ship's prediction for the Rumble: Cena wins (not that Ship wants him to win, but expects him to win). Ship expected The Rock to win the WWE Championship from Punk before this match and have a staredown with Cena as the show was going off the air, but they changed up the order. Or who knows, maybe they will switch it up and let Santino win it lol

OK, so who is going to start the match with Ziggler??? Wait a sec, it's Jericho! Ship's favorite wrestler of all time! Ship is totally marking out! But, why did he still have the Bright Lite jacket??? Oh well, he's back!

Here comes "Stachin'" Cody Rhodes, as the gang has chosen to call him. The guys from Tulsa actually thought he should be Magnum P.I. Rhodes lol

Oops, Santino is out. Guess there goes that prediction :)

And here comes Surprise 2: Goldust! And he is coming right after Cody! Will he eliminate Cody?

Sheamus certainly came ready to fight...

Jake says Cody looks like a pervert. Then, he predicts a new tag team, Goldust and Funkasaurus. Dustin says, "Yeah, it's called Funkadust!" Great one, bro!

Cody eliminates Goldust.. Sad moment. Was hoping the Goldie would have his moment.

Guess Mysterio is Surprise 3. Why is he wearing a singlet? Jake says it's to cover his gut. Looks possible, because he is doing the Konnan look.

Here comes the black John Cena aka Darren Young! And the heavyweights are gone (Tensai and Brodus).

And here comes Bo Dallas from NXT! (never seen him, but Corey says he's great)

So, Kofi for no reason just chased Tensai, flying toward him after he was already eliminated. Now, Kofi is on top of the Spanish table, which looks they are setting him up to do the Morrison trick. Sadly, he appears to be unable to make the leap. Now, he's awkwardly asking JBL for his chair (and JBL obliges and says three times, "I wanna see this!"). Kofi now uses the chair like a pogo stick to get back into the ring... now all that to be eliminated by Cody. That was such a waste of time. Probably the worst waste of time in WWE history.

Tad and Corey earlier called the prediction of Godfather (Dustin wanted Papa Shongo instead, and they all made the prediction when it was announced they'd be in Vegas for RAW tomorrow). Godfather barely made it in the ring before Ziggler eliminated him (Jake predicts he'll come back as Papa Shongo).

Tad and Ship agree we need Disco Inferno to return (Dustin says, "Stop it!").

D'Bryan now eliminates Kane. Cesaro knocks Bryan off the apron and then Kane catches him. It's an awkward moment as Kane holds Bryan like a baby. It appears that Kane is going to bring Bryan back into the ring, but he drops him at the end.. the seed is planted as predicted by Jake during the tag match.

Sin Cara returns as Surprise 4.

Bo Dallas now eliminates the IC Champion Wade Barrett! But, then Barrett pulls him out and they fight outside the ring. This reminds us of when Maven eliminated 'Taker in his very first Rumble and we all know how his career went.. Hoping better things for Bo Dallas.

Ryback is number 30! Good that he made it in, but a bummer that we only had four surprise entrants.

Ziggler eliminates Jericho. There's a tear in Ship's beer (or Mountain Dew, that is).

So much for the undisputed talk... Sheamus eliminates Zig, so he won't be going for the WWE Championship.

Ryback stops the Five Knuckle Shuffle (possible heel turn)!

Oops, Sheamus is out.

Mark aka "Lil' Natch" says he "called" Cena and Ryback being the last two (if he did, Ship didn't hear him). While we were discussing the Crippler (you know, that wrestler who never wrestled), Cena won. Very disappointing, although at least Ship can say he called the winner.

So, apparently there won't be a Divas title match. All but Corey thought they were going to have Kaitlyn vs. Tamina.

We are so mad about Cena winning that Ship goes to get the Macho Man wrestling buddy Dustin got him for his 13th birthday party! Some of us beat him up, but of course it's tough beating up the dead...

Now, it's finally time for Rock vs. Punk. The crowd is split over who we want to win. Tad and Jake are winning Punk shirts. Ship is wearing his old Rock shirt. Ship and Dustin have a bet. If Rock wins, Ship gets to hit Dustin in the head with the popcorn tin lid (an old favorite). If Punk wins, Dustin gets to do the ol' knife edge chop to Ship.

During the entrance, Dustin says, "It only took Rock 40 years to get abs (Ship thought he used another word which means the same as butt lol)."

During the so-so match, we discussed several bad gimmicks, mainly the terrible Katie Vick gimmick.

And we look up to notice Rock and Punk on the Spanish table. And it collapses before the Rock Bottom that was coming. Apparently, Rock put on some weight since the last time he was on the table.

Rock is going for the People's Elbow, then POOF! lights out. Is it Undertaker? Sting? Triple H? It's of course the Shield, although you can hardly tell in the dark. Lights come on and The Rock has been put through the announce table and Punk is laughing. Rock is rolled in the ring and Punk pins him. But wait a minute, here comes Mr. McMahon! Mr. McMahon is getting ready to strip Punk of the title, even though he can't prove that the Shield did it. The Rock says, "You can't take the title! I will!" (again, stick to your third person talk, Rock!)

The match restarts, The Rock hits the People's Elbow and that's it! New WWE Champion!

Ship is happy that The Rock is the Champion, but why couldn't they make the match as good as WM 18 when Rock and Hogan brought down the house? That night, they both kicked out of each other's finishers at least two times. He could have at least finished with a Rock Bottom, as he promised in his smack talk on RAW last Monday.

Overall, it was a lackluster Royal Rumble, but having the guys here made it all worth it!

Here's hoping WrestleMania at Dustin's will be EVEN better!

So, what did you think of Royal Rumble? Post your thoughts here or on Twitter @ship4life or Facebook at Kris Shiplet (one T) or e-mail at theshiponprowrestling@gmail.com

Until next time, keep sailing on!

Final events on WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 11

Finally, The Ship has come back to blogger.com!

It's been a loooooong time since The Ship updated here. Been too busy with work, church, family and the "other blog."

Many of you know that The Ship was wrapping up the last few pay-per-views of Smackdown vs. RAW 11 before making the switch at last to WWE 13. This will be his last blog on SvR11 results. Apologize for being lazy, but here are the details of the last two pay-per-views of Year 4 on WWE Universe.

again and as HBK is climbing up, Ship pulls down the title belt to remain WWE Champion!

So, that's how #svr11 ended! It has been a blast playing this game the past two years and reporting the details to you right here for the past year as well as tweeting. Will The Ship continue to report on WWE 13 events? That remains to be seen. Ship will begin his time on WWE 13 with King of the Ring tourney followed by The Attitude Era, so it'll be awhile before he gets to the Universe mode. If you want to keep reading details of Ship's pay-per-views right here, let him know!

Until next time, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Keep sailing on!

Hell in a Cell (SvR 11, Year 4)

Finally, The Ship has come back to blogger.com!

We may have reached the end of Smackdown vs. RAW 11 at the Shiplets' house and if Hell in a Cell is its last PPV, it's a great way to go!

The Newark, NJ crowd was first treated to an Intercontinental Championship match of Rob Van Dam vs. Dagger. Triple H had informed RVD that if he lost, he was fired. With that pressure already, the pressure became that much worse when Dagger snuck up to take the advantage. RVD never had a chance, as Dagger quickly hit a DDT and then a 5-Star Frog Splash to put the exclamation mark on it. He then covered RVD for the pin.

After the match, the NJ crowd showed their appreciation for RVD with "Rob Van Dam!" and "Mr. Monday Night" chants.

Result: Dagger wins the IC title.

Next up, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin defended his US title vs. The Ship. If Ship won, he'd have three titles (including the unrecognized WCW title). Since Ship still had to defend his WWE title in a Hell in a Cell match, he did his best to make short work of Austin and he succeeded. He hit The Ship's Elbow and a Shipwreck on Austin and pinned him to once again be US Champion.

That wasn't all though, as former US Champion Kinzer attacked Ship with a baseball bat. Ship looked in bad shape with his WWE title Hell in a Cell match still to come.

Result: The Ship wins the US title.

Next, we had our first Hell in a Cell match of the night, as "Dynamite" Amber Shiplet for the second straight year defended her Divas title vs. Mickie James in a Hell in a Cell. Mickie started off leading with chair shots and used the cage to do moves, but Amber fough back with several elbows and beat the crap out of her.
Amber rolled her in the ring, hit a vicious back German suplex and pinned her to retain.

Result: Amber is still Divas Champion.

Evolution had their first appearance of the night as Undertaker and "Chief" Josh Vincent defended their tag team titles in a Falls Count Anywhere match vs. Nation of Domination members Keith Oakland and Shelton Benjamin.

It was an intense match and both teams used their share of chairs and sledgehammers.

Keith Oakland attempted to pin 'Taker with his own Tombstone, but Josh broke up the pinfall. 'Taker stopped two OKO attempts of Oakland, but finally Oakland connected and attempted to pin him with his feet on the ropes. Josh tried to break up the pin, but Shelton Benjamin stopped him with a steelchair. The ref counted the pin and we had new tag team champions.

Result: Nation of Domination wins the Unified Tag Team Championships.

After all of the things that went down in his earlier US title match, The Ship came hobbling to the ring but determined to beat his rival, Shawn Michaels, once again for the WWE Championship.

They went back and forth in the ring, using chairs and strikes, but once The Ship broke the cage wall with HBK's back, he had the advantage.

Up on top of Cell, Ship tried to break the roof with a Ship Bottom and Shipwrecks but it didn't break. Ship threw HBK off Cell and he landed on announce table.

Ship then hit another Ship Bottom and Super Kick outside of ring. Ref counted to three.

Result: The Ship leaves as US, WCW and WWE Champion!

The Newark, NJ crowd still had one more Hell in a Cell match left. Triple H, current world champion and Smackdown boss, defended his title vs. former champ, Rey Mysterio. Rey got an early start and got a 1 count after a hurricanrana;

Triple H countered with some chair shots and took over once he broke through the Cell door
Up on top of cell, Triple H hit spinebuster and Pedigree and Rey fell through cell after a knee drop.

Triple H hit another spinebuster and Pedigree in the ring and pinned Rey to remain world champion.

Result: Triple H remains world champion!

That's the end of Hell in a Cell. There's a chance we'll make it to Survivor Series before Amber lets Ship open WWE 13, and if so, we'll report those results here too. Until next time, keep sailing on!

The Torture of The Ship

Finally, The Ship has come back to blogger.com!

Wow, it's been way too long since The Ship updated this blog. Life has been busier than ever, but The Ship sincerely apologizes for neglecting this blog. Thanks for reading!

The Ship comes today with a heavy heart, as he is in the beginning stages of a severe torture. For the second straight year, his wife got him a great gift on Black Friday and is making him wait until Dec. 23, when we typically do our gift exchange with each other before having the big family gift exchanges.

Last year, The Ship was with her at Target on Black Friday when she got his Kindle Keyboard. Heck, he even asked the guy to get the key... Then, we both waited in line for an hour before checking out! Yet, he suffered a month-long torture and missed out on so much reading..

This year, same thing, only ten times worse. We got back from the in-laws on Thursday and she wasn't feeling up to shopping. But, she had made it clear that she was going to get The Ship his heart's desire, WWE 13 for PS3. It was on sale for $40 at Walmart starting at 8 p.m. Thursday. The Ship headed there himself, made it through the masses to get to the electronics section, argued with the sales associates over the price, and found another man in the exact same position who helped the associates see that this blogger was right!

So, The Ship did all the hard work and bought it himself, but now it's being wrapped and will be under our tree until the 23rd! In the meantime, The Ship will be playing Smackdown vs. RAW 11 and finishing at least one more pay-per-view (look out for the results of "Hell in a Cell" in the next week right here).

Of course, it could be worse. Don't get Ship wrong. He loves his wife and is very thankful she decided to get him the newest edition (after he somehow skipped WWE 12). But does it make sense to have to wait when he knows what it is? But, Amber has to wait as well, already knowing that her Kindle Fire is in the mail! :)

So, if you have WWE 13 and a PS3, look up "pastorship" on or around the 23rd and we'll match up! 'Til next time, keep sailing on!

Summerslam results (SvR11, Year 4)

Finally, The Ship has come back to blogger.com!

It's time once again for the "live" results of a Smackdown vs. RAW PPV. In this edition, we've arrived at Summerslam in year 4 of the WWE Universe mode. The PPV was "live" in Los Angeles!

The biggest party of the summer (although it's full on fall here in Oklahoma) kicked off with another Austin vs. Rock for the United States Championship. The Rock tried to win the same way he won the No. 1 contender match vs. Kinzer, by sneaking up on the Rattlesnake. The sneak attack worked, as he led most of the match and had two separate 2-counts. The Rock hit the Rock Bottom, but Austin got right up angry as could be and went for Stunner. The Rock blocked it and the fight continued outside the ring. Austin gained the advantage by whipping Rock into the main announce table.

Back in the ring, Austin hit an incredibly vicious piledriver (drawing on his own bad experience at Summerslam '97) and pinned The Rock to retain.

Result: "Stone Cold" remains US Champion.

Next up, Mick Foley defended his Hardcore Championship vs. 405 Horsemen's The Nickster in an Extreme Rules, Falls Count Anywhere match. It mostly occurred outside the ring and Nickster showed up the hardcore legend with sledgehammer shots, crutches and even a soda! Foley used Nickster's own Oklahoma Destroyer to gain the advantage, but this ticked off Nickster and he got right up. Moments later, after beating Foley senseless with his own title belt, Nickster hit an Oklahoma Destroyer of his own and pinned him to regain the Hardcore Title.

Result: The Nickster wins back the Hardcore Championship.

Rob Van Dam was up next, defending his Intercontinental Championship against The Monster. The Monster led most of the way, hitting two chokeslams and a Backstabber (one of his finishers). On two occasions, The Monster seemed to have it done, but RVD kicked out at 2 1/2 (or maybe even 2 3/4). RVD was gaining momentum with several flying moves in a row, but seemed to forget that it wasn't Extreme Rules. He grabbed a chair and threw it at The Monster. The ref had no choice but to throw out the match and reward The Monster the win by DQ.

Result: Monster wins by DQ; RVD remains IC Champion.

Next, it was time for Jerry Lawler's favorite match of the summer, as Kelly Kelly defended her Extreme Women's Championship against Layla. They may have looked ready for a swim, but they both came ready to fight. Layla in particular was in a rage, grabbing a chair and wrapping it around Kelly's left leg twice and stomping it to nearly snap her leg in half. She then hit her neckbreaker finisher and locked on a single-leg Boston crab on that same leg. Kelly Kelly was forced to tap out and surrender the title to Layla.

Result: Layla wins to become Extreme Women's Champion.

After the match, Layla got a few more kicks in while KK is still down. Michelle McCool came
out to reunite Lay-cool and they put Kelly Kelly through the Spanish announce table.

"Dynamite" Amber Shiplet was supposed to defend the Divas title against Beth Phoenix next, but on the way to the entrance ramp a masked person in all black hit her in the right knee with a lead pipe. Amber was seen on the floor screaming, "Why me???" Her estranged husband, The Ship, called 911 for her. Nitro GM Shane McMahon ruled that the match was canceled and she would not have to forfeit the title.

Next, Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler, representing "Ask Him!" defended their tag titles vs. Undertaker and Josh Vincent from Evolution in a ladder match. Undertaker was as great and intense as ever, but didn't seem comfortable with the ladder match rules. He kept putting the ladder in the wrong spot and only had his hands on the title for one brief moment. However, he wrestled at his best and tombstoned Swagger outside the ring to knock him out for most of the match. He distracted Ziggler long enough to give Josh a chance to climb the ladder. Swagger almost stopped him, but Josh was able to bring down the belt and bring the Unified Tag Team Championships to Evolution!

Result: Undertaker and Josh Vincent win the Unified Tag Team Championships.

In a return bout featuring the exact opponents from "Night of Champions" last month, The Ship defended his WWE Championship against the exact four challengers in another Championship Scramble featuring Chris Jericho, Edge, Kinzer and Shawn Michaels. The match began with "Ask Him!" members Chris Jericho and Kinzer squaring off. They didn't seem bothered by it all, as they both seemed determined to win that title. There was no decision in their five-minute timeframe and here came The Ship. Jericho and Kinzer did work together on the current champion, but also apart, as they both at one point aided The Ship in double-team work.

At the ten-minute mark, Edge entered the match. He came the closest to a pinfall, as he hit Kinzer with a spear and Ship was busy with Y2J. He went for the pin and somehow, Kinzer kicked out at two!

HBK entered at the 15-minute mark and it was more of the same. The Ship played great defense, stopping several pinfall attempts and attacking all four challengers with his signature moves (and using some of theirs too). In the end, there were no decisions during the 20-minute time period so The Ship left Los Angeles still WWE Champion!

Result: The Ship remains WWE Champion.

Even though it was already scorching in LA, the powers that be decided the World Heavyweight Championship match should be an Inferno match. Rey Mysterio defended his WHC vs. "The Game" Triple H. Triple H used several suplexes to turn up the heat. Rey fought off his first couple attempts to throw him into the flames. Rey was determined to fight back, but faced the Ultimate Distraction when "No Chance in Hell" kicked on and here came Mr. McMahon with Mickie James and John Cena, all making their first appearance since the WCW/ECW takeover.

Rey was distracted long enough for Triple H to throw him into the flames and up went his world title reign in smoke!

Result: Triple H wins the World Heavyweight Championship!

After the match, with Rey no longer on fire, Mr. McMahon, Cena and Mickie James came down to the ring. Cena and Triple H worked together again and Cena hit Rey with an Attitude Adjustment. Triple H then pedigreed Rey through the announce table, which was on fire.

Mr. McMahon announced that he has returned to put an end to this WCW/ECW invasion and regain control of his company. He promised that he'd be on WCW tomorrow and would be restoring it back to Monday Night RAW.

With Triple H back as world champ and Mr. McMahon promising he will regain control of the WWE, who will be there to stop him? Will Shane and Steph stand up to their father, or cower and surrender control? What will WWE Champion The Ship, who won his 5th title from Mr. McMahon, do when confronted?
